Cast: Ingrid Pitt, Peter Cushing, George Cole, Kate O'Mara
Director: Roy Ward Baker
1970
Vampire Lovers is a bit cheesey by today's standards but at the time it was ground breaking for its depiction of lesbianism and lesbian themes. It's a 1970 British Hammer Horror film, based on the novella Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu. This film was the beginning of the non-chronological trilogy including Lust For A Vampire (1971) and Twins Of Evil (1972), all of which explore elements of lesbianism. Fans of Star Wars will recognize actor Peter Cushing in this film.
