2009

Dorian Gray is a British horror/fantasy thriller adapted from the Oscar Wilde novel, The Picture Of Dorian Gray, published in 1890.  It was nominated for Best Film at the Sitges - Catalognian Internation Film Festival.  Although it is classified as "horror" it's more of a dramatic thriller.

Story:  The youthful Dorian Gray arrives in London where is swallowed into the hedonistic lifestyle of the upper class.  Obsessed with youth and pleasure, he sells his soul for eternal youth.  Now he must do anything to keep his secret.

Gay Factor:  The novel (by Oscar Wilde who was gay) hinted much more at Dorian's bisexuality.  The film only includes two scenes of his bisexuality, including hottie Ben Barnes in a male/male kiss.

The Final Destinations

The 5 Final Destination films comprise one of the better known horror franchises of the 2000's.  The films aren't notable for gay characters but the series does earn notable mention here because it's creator, Jeffrey Reddick, is gay.  Jeffrey created the premise of the first film and its first treatment which was later co-written by Reddick, Glen Morgan and director, James Wong.  Jeffrey Reddick continued by writing and co-producing its sequel, Final Destination 2.  The remaining films weren't written by Reddick but remain based on his characters and concept.

The original Final Destination film came from a story written by Reddick as an episode of The X-Files but X-Files creator, Chris Carter, continuously overlooked the story, meanwhile it grabbed the attention of James Wong and Glen Morgan who were also working on the tv series.  Instead, the series was launched to the big screen and marked the directorial debut of James Wong.

The first film features Kerr Smith who is better remembered as the gay jock from tv's Dawson's Creek.  Kerr was also featured in the gayish role in the horror film The Forsaken and in the horror remake of My Bloody Valentine.  Tony Todd, best remembered by horror fans as the demonic Candyman, appears in the first two Final Destination films as the mortician, William Bludworth.  Todd's voice is featured in the third film and his character returns in Final Destination 5, a prequel to the series.

Final Destination is a supernatural/horror/suspense series, all based around the same premise.  A teenager has a preminition of disaster and cheats death from the pending disaster.  However, the entity of Death won't allow it and goes after the teens who managed to alter their fates.

Killer Bash

CAST:  Raquel Riskin, Cory Monteith, Sebastian Gacki, Tara Wilson, Alicia Jones, Lindsay Maxwell, Lisa Marie Caruk, Caz Odin Darko, Alex Caithness, Aleks Holtz, Paula Shaw, Graham Wardle, Graham Kasakosi, Chad Rook, Brandon Mills.

DIRECTOR:  David DeCoteau

2005

Killer Bash is another of David DeCoteau's homoerotic "horror for women" films and follows the DeCoteau trademark of hot, shirtless guys flexing their muscles through half the film.  This is one of those bad movies that you might actually enjoy.  It's more of a suspense thriller; no blood or gore or scares.  A standout point of this film is its star Cory Monteith who later became a star on tv's Glee.  Lisa Marie Caruk has a role in the horror film Final Destination.  Aleks Holtz can be seen in DeCoteau's The Brotherhood IV:  The Complex along with Sebastian Gacki who also starred in DeCoteau's Beastly Boys.

Story:  When a nerdy, unpopular girl discovers an old class ring it transforms her to a pretty girl and leads her to unveil the 30 year old mystery of a boy who vanished on campus.  She learns that the geeky boy died as a result of bullying and a fraternity prank but now his spirit overtakes her body to bring revenge upon the children of his killers.

Gay Factor:  No gay character but gay director, DeCoteau, brings his typical formula of hot shirtless guys in half the film, mixed with scenes of the sexy boys in their undies.  Of special note is a very sexy scene of the underwear clad boys getting each other drunk, pouring drinks over each other (including down their underwear) and rubbing it over their muscle flexed bodies.  Also another scene of the 3 frat boys as strippers at their party.
