Trick 'R Treat

Cast:  Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Lauren Lee Smith

Director:  Michael Dougherty

2007

Quite possibly the best Halloween film outside the classic Michael Myers franchise.  This takes on a bit of everything from a serial killer, a "vampire," a pack of werewolves and ghost zombies from a Halloween massacre 30 years earlier!  The story is told as an anthology of separate stories, all in the same town on Halloween night that tie together in the end.  A brilliant film and a must see for any Halloween lovers.  The film's writer, Michael Dougherty, announced he is planning a sequel.

Story:  Four interwoven tales on Halloween night:  A school principal who has a secret life as a serial killer; a self-concious 22 year old virgin girl, out to celebrate the holiday with her friends; a group of kids out to pull a prank on their classmate, but find themselves getting it in the end; and a wife who hates Halloween but must contend with her husband's love of the holiday.  In the background of all the stories is a mysterious scarecrow kid, "Sam."

Gay Factor:  Unfortunately no gay characters, but the film's producer, Bryan Singer, is gay and the film's co-star, Anna Paquin is bisexual.

Venom (2005)

Cast:  Agnes Bruckner, Jonathan Jackson, Laura Ramsey, D.J. Cotrona, Rick Cramer, Meagan Good, Bijou Phillips, Method Man, Pawel Szajda

Director:  Jim Gillespie

2005

This isn't a gay movie but I will include it here because it was produced by Kevin Williamson, the creator of the Scream series, among others.  Critics called this cliche and "cookie cutter horror."  True, it's not Williamson's best project, but the effects are good with good acting; it's better than many low budget horror flicks.

Story:  A group of teens find themselves stalked through the swamps of Louisiana by a man who has become posessed with the souls of a dozen killers and rapists.

Gay Factor:  No gay characters or even gay overtones.  The producer, Kevin Williamson, is gay.  There is a line in the film about 'being born that way' and is related to like "being gay."

1313: Giant Killer Bees

Cast:  Derek North, Jillian Nelson, Adam Phebus, Darren Thomas, Alberto Frezza, Carey James, Tanner Novlan, Jarrid Balis, Raine Parsons-Wright

Director:  David DeCoteau

2011

Another B-Movie from cult director, David DeCoteau, this time advertised as a sci-fi thriller continuing DeCoteau's 1313 horror franchise.  DeCoteau reinterprets H.G. Wells' classic Food Of The Gods.  The acting is awful, the plot is thinner than paper, but does anyone really watch DeCoteau for an intense plot?  The guys are hot!

Story:  Genetically enhanced killer bees are the downfall of society, cause of the end of the world, turning everyone into zombies.

Gay Factor:  No gay characters, but typical DeCoteau homoerotica - 2 shower scenes and hot guys running around in their white boxer briefs.
