Cast: Jey Crisfar, Marcel Schlutt, Katharina Klewinghaus, Nicholas Fox, Ricciardi, Keith Boehm, Olivia Barth
Director: Bruce LaBruce
2009
This is a bizarre arthouse film from Canada and Germany, telling two separate stories merged into one. The "real unlife" Otto scenes appear in color while the film Up With Dead People appears in black and white. Nothing really on the scary side although there is a fair amount of blood and a few gross out moments (depictions of zombie fucking - inserting a penis into the wounded torso of another male; eating raw meat; bloody sex). In art house form, the film does get pretty graphic with true depictions of full frontal nudity, male urination and real/unsimulated sex acts of oral sex and masturbation. The film does drag and get boring with long sequences of no dialogue, sometimes depressing, and sometimes the soundtrack becomes annoying or disturbing when in zombie mode. This is definitely not a traditional horror film, except that it centers around the undead life of a zombie, Otto, and does include a lot of blood.
Story: A zombie named Otto, who has no recollection of his past, comes in contact with a film maker, Madea, in the process of making a political zombie porn. Madea uses Otto as a zombie reference and decides to make a documentary film about his unlife.
Gay Factors: Otto is a gay zombie, many of the cast are gay (or bisexual) males. Madea and Hella are both lesbians.
